Description

Applications and advantages

Are you looking for a water-resistant solution for a bathroom floor? Or maybe you want to refresh your floor without removing the tiles? The HydroFest 5 m² kit lets you create a seamless microcement floor designed for wet areas. It's a great choice both for new projects and for renovating an existing floor (e.g., over tiles) — as long as the substrate is stable and in good condition. HydroFest is a system developed specifically for bathrooms: high resistance to water and moisture, easy cleaning, and a modern, subtle seamless finish without grout lines.

Where does the HYDROFEST kit work best?

  • Bathroom, kitchen, and hallway floors
  • Renovation of existing ceramic tiles without removal
  • Underfloor heating systems

Key benefits of HYDROFEST microcement:

  • Water resistance – the HYDROFEST system provides durable protection against moisture, making it suitable for wet areas
  • Seamless finish – no grout lines means better aesthetics, easier cleaning, and fewer places for moisture to accumulate
  • Subtle finish – HydroFest creates a refined, soft, modern surface effect
  • Faster application – ready-to-use, pre-tinted microcement that can be applied right away
  • High adhesion – HydroFest can be used on various substrates such as concrete and ceramic tiles (with proper preparation)
  • Easy maintenance – simple cleaning with water and pH-neutral cleaners
  • Optional antibacterial coating – by adding Nano Silver Plus into the varnish layers, you can achieve antibacterial properties — especially useful for bathrooms

Quick installation guide

Applying HydroFest microcement on bathroom floor involves 3 main steps:

  1. Surface preparation
clean, sand, and prime with Fest Grunt.
  2. Microcement application
apply two coats of HYDROFEST microcement.
  3. Sealing
apply two coats of PU Fest Turbo sealer.

Note: If the substrate is cracked or unstable, reinforce it before applying microcement. Use Festfloor Baza with fiberglass mesh (first coat with mesh, second coat without mesh). When applying microcement over tiles, first remove any silicone, sand the tiles, fill the joints with a leveling compound, and prime with Fest Grunt. Then reinforce the substrate using Festfloor Baza with mesh (first layer with mesh, second layer without mesh).

What's included?

A complete 5 m² kit based on the HydroFest system. The kit includes:

  • Fest Grunt (1 kg) – a primer that equalizes substrate absorption and improves adhesion of subsequent layers. Sufficient for one coat.

  • HYDROFEST Microcement (5 kg) – a microcement system dedicated to wet areas (bathrooms, showers, around bathtubs). Enough for two coats.

  • PU FEST TURBO sealer (400 g Component A + 200 g Component B) – a two-component solvent-based protective sealer with high resistance to abrasion and staining. One coat is sufficient, but for maximum durability, two coats are recommended. Choose the "with additional varnish" option for full protection.

OPTIONAL:

  • Optional substrate reinforcement system (recommended for tiles):
When applying microcement over ceramic tiles, a reinforcement layer helps to even and stabilize the substrate, improving adhesion and durability.
Includes FESTFLOOR BAZA (9 kg) + FESTLiquid (3 kg) + fiberglass mesh – a universal base system for embedding fiberglass mesh and improving durability. Enough for two coats.
When purchasing, select the option "Festfloor Baza + Fibermesh"

Color selection

HydroFest microcement is factory-tinted, so there's no need to add pigments during use. Pigments are blended during production, ensuring a consistent, uniform shade — important for the overall look and coherence of the interior finish. Simply choose a colour from our standard colour chart.

You can also order a colour outside the standard palette. We offer HYDROFEST in RAL shades (200+ colours) and NCS shades (nearly 2000 colours), giving you extra flexibility for design and customisation.

👉 Please note that colour perception can vary depending on several factors, including your screen settings and the lighting in the room. Colour will look different in daylight than under artificial warm or cool light. That's why we recommend ordering a sample before making a final decision to see how the shade will look in your space.

FAQs
How does HydroFest differ from other Festfloor microcements?
HydroFest microcement is water-resistant and designed for wet areas. If you would like to learn more about the differences between our microcement systems, we have prepared a special comparison: Comparison of microcement systems
Is HydroFest microcement suitable for use in showers with linear drainage?
Yes. HydroFest is a water-resistant microcement, making it ideal for wet areas such as shower enclosures with linear drainage, without the need for full waterproofing. It only requires the use of sealing tapes at the joints between walls, walls and floors, and around the drain.
Can HydroFest microcement be applied to tiles?
Yes – after proper preparation of the substrate, microcement adheres perfectly to ceramics. Watch our video showing step-by-step application of HydroFest microcement to ceramic tiles in a bathroom
Is it difficult to apply microcement in the bathroom yourself?
For beginners, we recommend watching the Festfloor instructional videos on our YouTube channel, here. There you will find detailed step-by-step videos, including the application of HydroFest microcement on bathroom walls, as well as a video showing the application of microcement on ceramic tiles. This is the best way to understand the entire process and avoid mistakes.
Is HydroFest microcement suitable for floors with underfloor heating?
Yes, HydroFest is compatible with underfloor heating. It has good thermal conductivity and flexibility. However, it is important to remember that the underfloor heating system should be turned on, tested, and turned off at least 7 days before applying the microcement.
Is HydroFest suitable for use in rooms where hygiene is particularly important?
Yes. Thanks to its seamless structure and ease of cleaning, HydroFest is ideal for bathrooms, wet areas, and other places requiring a high level of hygiene. Additionally, it is possible to add Nano Silver Plus to the varnish – it contains silver particles with antibacterial properties, which further increases the safety of use of the surface.
When do I need to reinforce the substrate before applying HydroFest microcement?
It is advisable to reinforce the substrate when: - it is weak or cracked, - there is underfloor heating, - you want to apply microcement to ceramic tiles, - you plan to finish a kitchen or bathroom countertop with microcement.
How to clean microcement in the bathroom?
For everyday cleaning, just use water and a mild detergent, such as FestCleaner. To remove soap and limescale deposits, use our FestCalc product. → See "How to clean microcement? Microcement care guide"
