Microcement in the kitchen and in the bathroom

Despite the outbreak of the coronavirus Borys from the Concrete Studio, he has his hands full! In the latest film he boasts one of his latest projects of the kitchen and bathroom made of microcement.

Microcement bathroom in an apartment in Warsaw

In the bathroom, all walls, the casing of the bathtub, flush-mounted toilet frame and the floor were finished with microcement. Borys used FESTWALL Life microcement (color GR5) for walls, and FESTFLOOR Life microcement on the floor (color GR6). Two dark shades of gray were combined with light, warm wood, wicker baskets and the wall of plants and potted flowers gave the room freshness and added a bit of exotic flare. An interesting element of the interior is also a beautiful stone sink. We must admit that the interior is more like a spa than a regular bathroom in an apartment in Warsaw 🙂

But one room made of microcement was not enought for the investor, Mrs Aleksandra, she also wanted a kitchen made of microcement.

Industrial microcement kitchen

In the kitchen, Borys also used two-component microcement FESTWALL Life (for walls and ceiling) and FESTFLOOR Life (for the floor) – both in the lighter shade of GR1. Traditional microcement gives greater possibilities to shape the structure and obtain characteristic burns. It is these effects that the investor likes the most and she asked Borys for such.

The kitchen is kept in the same colors as the bathroom. Here we have oak-colored buildings, solid wood top, industrial bar stools, metal shelves and cupboard handles. Ms. Aleksandra likes cooking and she decided to provide additional protection for the wall by the stove with tempered glass. The sealer included in the microcement set protects the microcement against stains, however, it should be remembered that greasy stains from oil or colored sauces should be removed from it as soon as possible (read also: How to clean microcement? The apartment looks modern, and thanks to the use of the same colors and materials – concrete, wood, metal – throughout the space, it is visually consistent.  The human brain categorizes the repeated patterns much faster than when none of the design elements fit together. It altogether gives a sense of calm and peace.

At this point, we want to congratulate Mrs. Aleksandra, because she herself designed the whole apartment and chose the finishing materials. The end result is really successful, and most importantly, it has gained the approval of the investor’s cat;)
